Data & permissions
Effective: June 3, 2026 · Last updated: June 3, 2026
This page is a plain-language companion to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. It summarises exactly what data the Codex Studios website collects, what it stores on your device, and (just as importantly) which device or browser permissions this site does and does not request.
Operator: Codex Studios, an operating company of Codex Corp, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Contact: privacy@codexcorp.ca.
This website does not request access to your camera, microphone, location, or notifications. Those permissions are also blocked at the server level via a Permissions-Policy HTTP header. The only browser storage this site uses is analytics cookies (Google Analytics) and a single local-storage key to remember your light or dark theme.
1. At-a-glance permissions
The table below lists every device and browser permission that a website could request, along with the status for this site and the reason.
| Permission | Status | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Not requested | This is a static marketing website. No video or photo capture is needed, and the permission is blocked server-side via Permissions-Policy. |
| Microphone | Not requested | No audio capture feature exists on this site. Blocked server-side. |
| Location | Not requested | We do not use precise device location. Blocked server-side. Analytics may infer an approximate region from your IP address, but your device's GPS or network location is never accessed. |
| Notifications | Not requested | We do not send browser push notifications. |
| Cookies & analytics | Used | Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_<id>) measure aggregate site usage: pages visited, approximate region, device type, and referral source. See our Cookie Policy. |
| Local storage | Used | A single key (codex-theme) stores your light or dark mode preference so the site remembers it on your next visit. This value never leaves your device. |
2. Data we collect on this site
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. It collects: pages viewed and time spent, approximate geographic region (derived from IP address, not precise location), device type and browser, referring source (how you arrived), and interactions such as scrolling or link clicks. All data is aggregated and used only to improve the site. We do not use it for advertising targeting.
Functional local storage
Your light or dark theme preference is saved in your browser's local storage under the key codex-theme. This stays on your device, is never transmitted to our servers, and is not linked to any personal identifier.
Cloudflare server and security logs
Our hosting and content delivery provider, Cloudflare, automatically logs technical request data including your IP address, the URL requested, HTTP method, response code, and timestamp. These logs are used to operate and secure the site and are subject to Cloudflare's data-handling practices.
Information you send us
If you email us directly or use a contact or booking link on this site, we will receive the information you include in that message, such as your name, email address, and project details. We use this only to respond to your inquiry.
3. Device and browser permissions
This website does not invoke any browser permission prompt. We do not ask for and have no access to your camera, microphone, GPS or network location, notification system, or any other device capability. These permissions are additionally blocked via the Permissions-Policy header sent with every page, which instructs the browser to deny any such request even if one were made by a third-party script.
4. Cookies and local storage detail
We use two types of browser storage on this site:
- Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors and sessions and to persist analytics state across page loads. These are placed when you load the site. See the Cookie Policy for the specific cookie names and how to opt out.
- Theme preference (local storage): a single on-device entry stored when you choose light or dark mode. It is not a cookie and is not transmitted to any server.
We do not use advertising, remarketing, social-media tracking, or fingerprinting technologies.
5. Third parties
The only third-party services that handle data collected through this website are:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC): aggregate website measurement. Google may process data in the United States. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.): hosting, content delivery, and security (DDoS protection, WAF). Cloudflare may process request logs internationally. Governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
6. Your choices and controls
- Clear cookies: use your browser's settings to delete cookies at any time. Removing analytics cookies will not affect the site's functionality.
- Clear local storage: clearing site data in your browser's settings removes the saved theme preference. The site will fall back to its default dark theme or respect your operating-system preference on your next visit.
- Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control: if your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we note it. Google Analytics does not currently respond automatically to DNT, so for analytics opt-out we recommend the method below.
- Google Analytics Opt-out: install Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your visit data from being sent to Google Analytics across all sites you visit.
- Contact us: email privacy@codexcorp.ca with any questions or requests about your data.
7. Data location, retention, and your rights
Analytics data is processed by Google in the United States. Cloudflare logs may be stored internationally. Your local-storage theme preference stays on your device. For a full description of how we handle personal information, retention periods, and your access and correction rights under Canadian law (PIPEDA and BC PIPA), see our Privacy Policy.
