AI Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
This AI Policy explains how Finance Codex uses artificial intelligence. It forms part of our Terms & Conditions and works alongside our Privacy Policy.
What AI does in Finance Codex
Finance Codex uses AI to make manual tracking faster and clearer. Specifically, AI helps:
- Parse the natural-language transaction text you type and turn it into a structured entry (amount, category, and date).
- Suggest categories for your transactions.
- Generate plain-language summaries, budget suggestions, and insights from the data you have entered.
AI assists with organizing and interpreting the information you provide. It does not connect to your bank or any outside financial source.
What data is sent to AI providers, and why
To provide these features, the relevant text and figures you enter, such as a transaction description or the entries used to generate a summary, are sent to our AI provider(s) for processing. This is done to interpret your input and return a result to you. We send only what is needed for the feature you are using, and we do not send your account password or authentication secrets.
Outputs are automated and informational only. AI-generated categories, summaries, budgets, projections, and insights are produced automatically, may be inaccurate or incomplete, and are not financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice and not a recommendation to take any action.
Accuracy and your responsibility
AI can misread input, miscategorize an entry, or produce figures that do not match your intent. You are responsible for reviewing AI output and correcting it. Always verify amounts, categories, and any totals before relying on them, and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
Human discretion and no significant automated decisions
You stay in control. You can edit, override, or delete anything AI suggests. Finance Codex does not use AI to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. AI in the app is a convenience for organizing your own records, not a decision-maker.
How to limit or avoid AI features
If you prefer not to use AI, you can:
- Enter and categorize transactions manually instead of relying on AI parsing.
- Choose not to generate AI summaries or insights.
- Edit any AI suggestion before saving it.
Core tracking in Finance Codex works without AI-generated insights.
How AI providers handle your data
We work to ensure that data sent to AI providers is used only to process your request and return a result. It is our position that your data should not be used to train third-party public AI models without your consent, and we choose providers and settings consistent with that stance. AI providers process data under their own terms and security practices; see our Privacy Policy for how we share data with service providers.
Changes to this policy
As our AI features evolve, we may update this policy. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
