These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Finance Codex. Please read them with our Privacy Policy and AI Policy, which are part of these Terms.
Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using Finance Codex, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. We may update these Terms from time to time, and continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Eligibility and age
You must be at least 13 years old to use Finance Codex, and old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the app with the involvement of a parent or guardian. The app is not directed to children under 13.
What Finance Codex is
Finance Codex is a personal money-tracking and journaling tool operated by Codex Labs, a product line of Codex Corp, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. You log transactions in plain language, keep recurring ledgers and budgets, and view reports for debt, savings, and investments, on the calm Zeni design system.
Finance Codex is not a financial institution, bank, broker, lender, payment processor, or money service business. The app does not connect to your bank, does not access bank or card credentials, and does not process, hold, or move money. Every figure is entered manually by you, for your own records.
Your account and security
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure, including your password, MFA, and passkeys. You agree to provide accurate information and to notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account. We support email and password sign-in, MFA, passkeys, Google sign-in, and password recovery to help protect your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app, other accounts, or our systems.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or overload the service or its infrastructure.
- Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the app except as permitted by law.
- Upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful.
Your content and ownership
You own the financial data and content you enter into Finance Codex. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely to operate and improve the service for you, including AI processing as described in the AI Policy. You can export your data and delete your account at any time.
Not financial, investment, tax, or accounting advice
Finance Codex does not provide financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice. The app, including any AI-generated summaries, budgets, projections, and insights, is for personal informational and organizational purposes only. It is not a recommendation to take any action. Always verify figures yourself and consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions. See our AI Policy for more on automated output.
Availability and beta nature
Finance Codex is under active development and currently shipping to Android, with iOS and web planned. Features may change, and the app may be unavailable at times for maintenance or reasons beyond our control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Intellectual property
The Finance Codex app, its design system, branding, and software are owned by Codex Labs and Codex Corp and are protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding, other than the limited right to use the app as intended.
Disclaimer of warranties
The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Codex Labs and Codex Corp will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from financial decisions you make using the app. Because Finance Codex is a record-keeping tool and does not handle money, you remain solely responsible for your finances and the accuracy of the data you enter.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Codex Labs and Codex Corp from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your misuse of the app or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
Termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if needed to protect the service or other users. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.
Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that the courts located in British Columbia will have jurisdiction over any disputes, subject to any non-waivable consumer-protection rights you may have under local law.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
